Dungeons & Dragons: Classes

In DnD you play in teams of 2-8, and the idea is that some event draws together your player characters who adventure together, such as attending a funeral for a friend shared by the team who’s last wish is that you protect a certain person, or you get caught i the middle of an invasion by an army serving an evil deity, and are forced to join to the fight.

You class is your characters abilities with respect to adventuring, covering both their ability to fight, but also their ability to deal with all sorts of problems: Rogues can pick locks and avoid detection, Rangers can track enemies over distances and sense danger in the wilderness and clerics can heal wounds and protect allies.

There are 13 classes in DnD, each with it’s own “Subclasses” that offer even more possibilities. It’s up to you to not only choose you class and subclasses, but also how to make them fit your character.

For example, a “Druid” is typically a nature protector, using magics that draw from the earth, such as vines or caling creatures for help, but a druid from “The Circle of the Moon” subclass has the power to change into any creature, they may turn into tigers or mammoths, or maybe they’re an islander, who becomes a giant hark to fend off pirates.

Or a “Monk” who is usually a disciplined martial artist as you’ve maybe seen in movies, but there’s nothing saying that monk can’t abandon their order and become a travelling bare-knuckle-boxer, who uses their super-human skill to make a living.
